The Depth of You and Me, dear Sister!

I swore off marriage books a long time ago!

Getting married in the early 1970's kind of ruined it for me as far as Christian marriage books. It was all about the submissive wife stuff, not much about the sacrificial love and leadership of the husband -- a reaction, I think, to the Christian feminism that was just coming into the church. And I've discovered that many of the books at that time were more about the "to do list" kind of Christian marriage than the indwelling sacrificial love of Christ kind of life, including marriage.

But recently "by accident," I came across a quote that really grabbed me. And this quote expresses the truth of what life on this earth as a believer is and must be, not just for those of us who are married. It's for all of us, in my opinion.

Can I share it with you and see what you think? I'm not sure I'll say much more right now, but if you would like to weigh in below on this blog, I would be so delighted. Maybe we can start a  discussion.

Here it is:

A woman's heart should be so lost in God that her husband has to seek Him in order to find her.  (Maya Angelou)

May it ever be so, O my God. Amen!

For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
