A God Song: Wrapped Up in You (guest post by John Loyd)

Love songs often sound like songs we could sing to God or even songs God could sing to us. Our human expressions of earthly love are shadows of a perfect love relationship we all inherently crave, but will never find in this world. Such a pervasive longing is evidence that a there is Someone who truly has loved us to the end.

Now before the Feast of the Passover,
Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart
out of this world to the Father,
having loved His own who were in the world,
He loved them to the end.
John 13:1 (NASB)

Beth & Nate

Below are the lyrics to Wrapped Up in You, originally recorded by Garth Brooks. The song was a favorite of Beth (our daughter) and Nate, which they shared on a gift CD at their wedding reception.

What Scripture verses come to mind as you read the lyrics and hear the song?
How do these words resonate with your love story with Jesus?

How do I love you?
Well let me see
I love you like a lyric loves a melody
Baby, completely
Wrapped up in you
How do I need you?
Well can’t you tell
I need you like a penny
Needs a wishing well
Baby, completely
Wrapped up in you

Every now and then
When the world
That we’re living in is crazy
You gladly hold me and carry me through.

No one in the world’s ever done
What you did for me.
And I’d be sad and lonely
If there were no you.

How do I love you?

Well count the ways
There ain’t no number high enough
To end this phrase…

How do I love you
Well don’t you know
I love you bout as deep
As any love can grow.

Baby, completely
Wrapped up in you
Baby, completely
Wrapped up in you

This is a cover version of Wrapped Up in You by Dylan Miller from Beth and Nate’s CD.
