Beauty & the Beach...in the Winter of Life
/Even though it is summertime, taking a look ahead toward winter can virtually cool us off and calm our souls. And it also causes us to remember a loved one in those later stages of life and treasure the beauty in a life well lived. May we do the same.
So I am looking ahead and also remembering my beautiful mom who went home to her God in November 2015. This was first posted in 2013, during one of my many visits with her in Belmar NJ.
Beaches are beautiful, no matter the season...and that even includes winter-time. There's a calm...an aloneness (not many brave the cold and wind)...a beautiful bleakness!
The winter beach is a silvery wonderland at times
and a burst of ravishing color at others, like the winter sunrises preceding blustery storms.
And all this makes me think of the winter of life...those silvery golden years...perhaps more silvery than golden.
There's a calm, a slowness, an aloneness, a beautiful bleakness, even in the midst of suffering and the "long good-bye."
And yes, there are periodic bursts of glory as clarity and deep wisdom and understanding reveal the real person inside, despite the usual hiddenness.
Can you tell I'm continuing the long good-bye with my precious mom? For how long...only the Lord knows! And His plans and timing are always perfect!
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!
Romans 11:33 NIVSo yes, there's beauty in the winter beach...and in the winter life.
Glory on, oh beloved both!
