His Guest . . . Perspective for the Journey

Unknown-2.jpg

Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be.
Remind me that my days are numbered—
    how fleeting my life is.

You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand.
    My entire
lifetime is just a moment to you;
at best, each of us is but a breath.” Interlude . . .

Hear my prayer, O Lord!
Listen to my cries for help!
    Don’t ignore my tears.
For I am your GUEST—
    a traveler passing through,
as my ancestors were before me.

Psalm 39: 4-5, 12 NLT

In my morning devotions the other day, I was struck by these sobering words about my aging life and the speeding passage of time that has been my 72 years. Did you notice that in Psalm 39 God says I am His GUEST passing through HIS earth. His Guest! And every day is a gift from my Host!

Each day . . . a gift . . . from my Divine Host because I am His guest!

And so . . .

the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me,
    and through each night
I sing his songs,
    praying to
God who gives me life.
Psalm 42:8 NLT

. . . thanking Him for my life . . . for one more day. . . for one more breath!

And praying . . .

So teach [me] to number [my] days
that [ I ] may get a heart of wisdom.

Psalm 90:12 NASB

FELLOW GUESTS,
Why not thank your Host. Thank Him for life and breath and one more day to love and be loved, to learn and serve and praise Him, and to be His vehicle to pour forth His love and life to others.
