Lost my "Power Source"

The other day, i was preparing for the arrival of my young guests for lunch and games. As I scoped out the areas where we would be eating and playing, I realized that I’d better “put up” my laptop and unplug its power cord from the outlet right behind the lunch-time table.

So I closed my laptop and placed it off to the side on the kitchen counter. Then I unplugged the cord and rolled up the wire and put it “somewhere on top of something.” (Can you relate?) A little later, I remembered coming across the rolled up “power block” on top of “that something” before my young friends arrived.

But I did a stupid thing — I moved it! Absent-mindedly, of course! So then my sweet friend Kristen and her four darlings came.

We had such a fun time eating lunch and doing playdough and jumping rope together!

But then after I waved “good-bye,” I realized I couldn’t remember where I had placed my precious cord. My husband and I looked and looked… every logical place and every illogical place. Finally, we gave up.

“It’s here somewhere,” I insisted. “It will show up.” but the day came and went but no “power source.”

The next morning, as I was awakening, I remembered my missing power cord. I said, “Lord, I’m missing my power source! Please find it for me!”

Then the realization …

“Wait a minute! I’m not really missing my Power Source, because the Lord God is my Source of Power! The indwelling triune God of the universe lives in and through me as I let Him. And He is not a Force or an impersonal Power. He is the Living God, so of course all power and authority reside in Him. Praise you, O God.”

So as I began my day, I sat in my prayer chair with my cup of coffee and worshipped my God, the source of all Power and authority.

You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.
Revelation 4:11 NLT

God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
2 Timothy 1:7 ESV

Later I asked Him again about my power cord. All of a sudden, I lifted the top layer of napkins in the little basket on the kitchen counter. Voila!

Oh yeh, that’s where I put it! So grateful…

Thank you, God!
And thank you for the awesome metaphor of Who YOU are in my life!
All Power is in YOU. Why would I look to anyone or anything as my source? Save me from that.
In Jesus’ Name.
Amen.

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.
For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10: 3-5 ESV
